Workshop That Takes the “Freeze” out of Cold Calling Sept. 16

ColdCalling1011-e1315342303889Brent Westmoreland, co-owner of Go Green Destruction Services, will host a cold calling workshop for students, alumni and general public at the Jacobs Building on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 5-5:30 p.m.  Learn how to make effective phone calls to communicate with potential employers, clients or customers at this brief session. Fall Phone-a-thon volunteers who sign in and attend will receive a prize. For more information call Assistant Director of Development Pam Fountain at 770-718-5333.

Cold calling is soliciting a positive response from someone who was not expecting interaction. The term ‘cold’ refers to the fact that the caller has not set any groundwork for the call. Westmoreland will discuss techniques on how to inspire the person on the receiving end of the phone call to talk with the caller and give that job, appointment or Phone-a-thon gift.  As a Phone-a-thon volunteer, Brenau students make cold calls twice a year to ask Women’s College alumnae for gifts to the scholarship fund.
