Award-winning author and poet Sandra Beasley will read excerpts from her work at Brenau University On Monday, Feb. 3, as part of her tour on the Georgia Poetry Circuit. Her reading will take place in the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts at 12:30 p.m., followed by a Q&A session at Brenau’s Writing Center in the Trustee Library at 3:30 p.m.
“My poems often begin with a bold premise, adopting the voice of a piano, or a platypus, or a minotaur, without any exit strategy,” Beasley stated in a 2013 interview with Southern Writer’s Magazine. “But the dramatic monologue is a potent mode.”
She lives in Washington, D.C. where she earned her MFA at American University and worked as an editor for The American Scholar. For more information about the poetry reading and the Georgia Poetry Circuit, visit www.berry.edu/gpc or call 770-534-6179.
