The Brenau Ideal Scholarship Competition Finale, Feb. 1

The Brenau Ideal Scholarship Competition, formerly known as the Miss Brenau Scholarship Competition, is a Women’s College tradition of pride and inspiration. This year, 13 freshmen and sophomores compete for scholarships in the areas of performance, public speaking, and writing.  While the oratory and essay portions of the competition have already been scored by Brenau faculty and staff judges, the talent component will be judged at Pearce Auditorium on Friday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m.  The event is free and open to the public. 

This Winter Weekend, enjoy meeting the scholarship candidates, watching outstanding presentations by various Brenau student groups, and seeing $6,000 in scholarships being awarded at the finale, which is free and open to the public, held on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m. at Pearce Auditorium. The top scorers in the oratory, essay and talent areas will each be awarded a $1000 scholarship to be applied next academic year. The candidate with the highest combined score will be recognized as The Brenau Ideal scholarship winner and receive a $3000 scholarship for the next academic year. The cumulative grade point average for all contestants is 3.49. The contestants are: Brittany Button, Melinda Cassiday, Cassidy Collier, Stephanie Desosiers, Landon Farrow, Madeleine Herbermann, Taylor Mays, Jenna McCarthy, Samiro Mohamed, Joan Pack, Lisa Slysz, Ari Snowden and Danesha Troy.
