Brenau’s Vocal Chamber Ensemble Performs at SACS Annual Meeting

The Vocal Chamber Ensemble, Brenau’s Department of Music’s auditioned, 18-voice choir, applied for and received an invitation to perform at the opening session of the 118th Annual Meeting of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, Sunday, Dec. 8, in Atlanta. The Centennial Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Hotel was packed to capacity with over 1000 attendees in the room. The ensemble sang both prior to the opening of the session and then again after the gavel fell.

Professional preparation in the Department of Music includes appropriate amounts of music theory, music history, piano skills, sight-singing and applied lessons. With this rich environment, students have the confidence to face a room of over a thousand, maintain focus and present music, having found their voice at Brenau University. The motto of the department is PEAC: precision, energy, accuracy, and commitment. These Brenau University music majors exhibited an extraordinary “peac” of perfection for the SACS conference.
