With finals week drawing to a close, the creative duo Annie Johnston and Juli Clay cap the semester with the release their latest video set to Katy Perry’s “Roar.”
On Nov. 6 nearly 400 students, faculty and staff gathered on the front lawn of Brenau’s main campus in Gainesville to shoot the video. Students from MM170, PR Practicum, spearheaded the project shot by Mass Communication Department Chair Stewart Blakley with students from nearly every Gainesville campus organization and athletic team participating. President Schrader and Dean of the Women’s College Debra Dobkins also made cameo appearances.
Clay asked the students in her Public Relations Practicum class how they thought they could get the campus excited and, in turn, hopefully excite potential students about life at Brenau. It didn’t take long before they knew they wanted to produce a music video.
“What makes Brenau special and unique is the people that call Brenau home,” said Clay. “We wanted an opportunity to show new and potential students what Brenau has to offer beyond the classroom. We have amazing, enthusiastic students, faculty and staff.”
Taylor Salmon, junior Mass Communication major and project manager for the video said the video’s purpose is to portray that Brenau is about academics, but they also have fun. “The school is full of tradition, and the student body is full of energy.”
“I think Brenau has a unique atmosphere, and a way to showcase that is through a video that displays our personalities and enthusiasm for Brenau,” said Katie Barth, a Mass Communication senior who also participated in the project.
