The Brenau Update published it’s first classified ad today, an offer for a stair-stepper being sold by the Brenau Fitness Center. The ad was placed by Patricia Felt, who was surprised to learn that the Brenau Update had a classified section. “I didn’t know that. I’ll check it out” Felt said to David Morrison, vice president of Communications and Publications in an email Thursday morning.
“We’re all pretty excited” said Michael McPeek, director of multimedia publishing. The Update’s classified section is fairly new and hasn’t been fully implemented yet. “Honestly, we were just sorta waiting for a chance to use it.” For the time being classified items will appear in the regular Update email as well in the classifieds section of the website. “If we start to get a lot we may have to rethink that policy. I don’t want vital information being buried by ‘gently used Furbies and Beanie Babies for sale’. Not that we’ve had that.”
The classified section will not be used to promote anyone’s business or personal cause, just to connect individuals in the Brenau community. “It’s all spelled out in the terms and conditions. Everyone reads those so we should be good” said McPeek.
So if you’re looking to sell a drum kit or want someone to carpool with then your day has come.
