President Schrader addressed the Atlanta Press Club yesterday afternoon at the Capital City Club in Atlanta before Gov. Nathan Deal spoke to attendees and members of the media. As he wrapped up his talk about the governor, legislature and education, Schrader noted the importance of programs like the Read Across Georgia initiative that Deal and his wife Sandra started to help young students in the state of Georgia learn to read.
“The governor’s wife is involved in a program right now that my wife said has needed to happen since she started teaching in Mississippi back in the 70s,” Schrader said. “Making sure that kids, when they get out of the third grade, have been read to and can read because they never catch up.”
