Brenau Tennis Player Zalina Nazarova named NAIA Player of the Week

For her outstanding performance last week, the NAIA named Brenau’s Zalina Nazarova the Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.

Based on her performance from April 8 -14, Zalina Nazarova was named National Women’s Tennis Player of the Week by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Nazarova, a ┬ájunior and native of Nalchik, Russia, went unbeaten in No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles on the week and helped the Golden Tigers take down two ranked teams.

On April 9, Nazarova secured two of three points for Brenau in a 6-3 loss to No. 3 Auburn Montgomery by winning her singles and doubles matches. The next day, Nazarova helped Brenau take down then No. 20 Lee (Tenn.), 9-0. Nazarova was victorious in her singles match, 6-0, 6-1, and in doubles, 8-0. The winning ways continued for her against then No.24 SCAD Atlanta (Ga.), claiming victory in singles, 6-2, 6-0. In her doubles match, Nazarova came away with a 9-8 victory.

With the perfect week, Nazarova has not lost a match, singles or doubles, since March 24 when she lost in No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles to NCAA Division I Alabama-Birmingham.
