Here is your chance to get involved and come up with a suitable name for one of the newest – not to mention largest – members of the Brenau family: the new golden tiger statue now resting in one of the most visible locations in the city of Gainesville. If that does not narrow down enough for you which piece of sculpture we’re referring to, it is only the largest statue of a golden tiger in the world.
But she needs a name and we’re inviting all members of the Brenau family – students, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, family and others to participate. Just go to http://www.brenau.edu/tiger and enter today. You can enter as many names as you like. You just fill out an easy form for each name. The contest is open to all campuses. Also on the web page you can find a location where you can pick up a great button to tell classmates, colleagues and friends that you’re participating: just write the name you suggested on a button and wear it proudly.
The contest is sponsored jointly by the Student Government Association, the Brenau University Alumni Association and the President’s cabinet. The new name for the tiger and winners of the contest will be identified at a special ceremony when school resumes for the fall term in 2013. If you want some more information about how we acquired this great gift tiger, a donation from North Carolina philanthropic Irwin “Ike” Belk, you can read the press release at http://www.brenau.edu/news/worlds-largest-golden-tiger/.
What do you get out of it? In addition to participating in a fun bit of history and being part of establishing a tradition that will last for decades, there will be some prizes, which we will announce on the Web page as soon as we have them in hand.
What happens if more than one person suggests the same name? In that case, there will be a drawing for the grand prize among those who submitted the name. But everyone who submitted the name will be recognized as a contributor.
What other rules do I need to know about? There is a complete set of rules on the web site www.brenau.edu/tiger.
So enter today. And feel free to enter often. Just go to www.brenau.edu/tiger.
