Richard Hannay is expecting a routine night at the theatre, however, when shots are fired midway through the show, he ends up embroiled in a world of spies, murder and intrigue. This is only the first in a series of wildly unexpected and downright funny twists in GTA SouthernStage’s fast-paced and hysterical production of The 39 Steps, which opens at the Buford Community Center on April 5.

A free Stage Tour, a sneak peek behind the scenes of the show, will be given at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 28, in the Sylvia Beard Theatre in the Buford Community Center. Patrons will hear from director Jim Hammond, Artistic & Managing Director for the Gainesville Theatre Alliance, as well as from designers. The one-hour presentation will end with a scene from the show.

Several professional companies from around the country have been brought in for this GTA SouthernStage inaugural season but The 39 Steps is a show fully produced locally, utilizing the skills of professional designers and talents of actors hired after a national search.

The 39 Steps will be the final show of the inaugural GTA SouthernStage season. A joint effort between Gainesville Theatre Alliance and the city of Buford, GTA SouthernStage is a new venture committed to bringing world class theatre to the Buford community in the brand new Sylvia Beard Theatre.
