Dr. Marcus Borg, one of the most widely known and influential voices in progressive Christianity and a major figure in scholarship related to the Historical Jesus, will present three lectures at Brenau University on Friday and Saturday, March 1 and 2, 2013, as part of a newly formed partnership of north Georgia churches and academic institutions.
Tickets are $50 and may be purchased through EMW Lectures online by clicking this link or by phone at 706-754-8036. Tickets are also available through the sponsor churches. One ticket buys admission to all three lectures. Single-lecture tickets are not available.
Friday evening’s lecture, “A Crisis in Christian Language,” will begin with a welcome and introduction starting at 7 p.m. and Borg will speak at 7:30 p.m. Saturday’s first lecture, “The Goal of the Christian Life,” begins at 10 a.m. – following a performance by the Brenau University Gospel Choir – and “The Central Virtues” starts at 1 p.m. Lunch will be available at noon Saturday for $10 in the dining hall adjacent to Pearce Auditorium.
