Brenau alumna and 1878 Society chair Emmie Henderson Howard, proprietor of the upscale gentlemen’s accessories company, Southern Proper, will have a special sale from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the offices of the Norton Realty at 434 Green Street NE in Gainesville (you can enter off Boulevard as well). Howard and her partner, Reagan Hardy, who also attended Brenau, have been making waves in the fashion industry – and attracting attention and envy of would-be business tycoons – since they started their company, which has been described as “a haberdashery for gentlemen.” Although the inventory contains some great gifts for men, including the signature neckties and bow ties designed with southern themes, there are some items for women as well. “Everyone at Brenau knows they are welcome as well as all their friends and acquaintances in Gainesville,” said Howard. “We will have ties for $30, bows for $25, hats for $10 and tees for $10.”
If you go tie shopping, it will give Howard a chance to collar you for a donation to the All-Steinway Piano School project at Brenau, which the 1878 Society has adopted as its pet project.
