Sandy Leslie has good cause to remember her first day on the job as the new dean of the College of Education. It was the day the Gainesville campus recorded its hottest temperature ever. And it was the day the air conditioning went out in the corner office of the Jewell Building that has become Dr. Leslie”s new home.
However, she”s still with us, and seems to be, uh, simmering with enthusiasm.
After a nationwide search, Brenau University found Dr. Sandra L. Leslie fairly close to home: in Rome, Ga., where for six years she was a professor, chair and dean of the School of Education at Shorter University. Although she is a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., she says her “home state” is really North Carolina, where she spent most of her adult life, raised her family and built a strong career as an educator.
