Nonresidential Student Picnic Saturday expected to set new record

Nonresidential Student Picnic Saturday expected to set new recordThe Summer 2012 Nonresidential Student Picnic in the Park will occur from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at the Francis Meadows Aquatic Center in Gainesville. Rosanne Short, director of nonresidential programs and services, said she is expecting a record turnout. Those who attend are invited to stay and play until the water park closes.

If you”re wondering why “college students” would be interested in going to an event at the kid-oriented water park, consider this: Short says the adult students enrolled in brenau programs on average have four children. “It goes to show that adult students will attend an event if it includes and occupies their children, and does not require leaving the spouse at home. They get so little family time this is a big deal to them.”

Each family will bring a side dish or dessert to share, to go with the drinks, hot dogs and hamburgers provided by the organizers. In addition to Short´s office, Student Services as well as Student Success & Retention and the Brenau Adult Student Association (BASA) contributed toward rental of the picnic and playground. For those wanting to enjoy the water park, admission is provided at no charge.
