The back campus area around Owens Hall was a flurry of activity Thursday as staff and volunteers made last-minute preparations for this weekend’s 4th annual Brenau Barbecue Festival. The “cherry picker” truck used to hand the main gate banner wasn’t through with its work before the first professional cook team, Jurassic Pork from Gwinnett County, rolled in getting ready to set up.
So, if you’re not working or volunteering, make plans to attend the preview party Friday night or the festival on Saturday or both. In addition to all the other great stuff we’ve come to expect from the festival, music Friday night will include the southern rock band Jimmy Hall and Drippin’ Wet as well as the highly acclaimed North Hall High School Jazz Band. The Saturday music lineup includes four bands as well as individual performances by singers and songwriters, including Brenau’s own dr. James Sennett at 11 a.m. and Kimberly Dean at 3 p.m.
