Leaptrot judges national opera competition in New York

Brenau University Associate Professor of Music Ben Leaptrott joins a distinguished panel of judges in New York City May 26 for the final round of the 2012 Fritz and Lavinia Jensen Foundation Annual Voice Competition at Baruch Performing Arts Center. The Jensen Competition, which features some of the best young singers in America, carries a first prize of $15,000 (out of a pool of more than $35,000 in prize money, plus an engagement with Opera Carolina within three years. Other judges are Palm Beach Opera General Director Daniel Biaggi, world-renowned soprano Leona Mitchell Bush, and OPERA America President & CEO Marc Scorca. If you´re in the Big Apple that day, drop by. The performances, free and open to the public, begin at 11 a.m. and conclude with an awards ceremony at about 2:30 p.m. with a reception following.
