The Governor”s Teaching Fellows Program is jointly sponsored by the Institute of Higher Education and the Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Georgia. Established by then-governor Zell Miller in the 1990”s, the program facilitates higher learning opportunities for its members, including symposia and, for some, an academic-year residency at the University of Georgia.
“It”s an addition to your regular workload, for sure,” Dobkins said. “But it brings you together with other people who share your academic interests. But we also develop projects of our own, including student research and the incorporation of modern communications technology into all aspects of teaching.”
