The NAIA #14 ranked Golden Tiger softball team will celebrate Senior Day on Friday, April 20 at Lanier Point Softball Complex as they complete their regular season schedule. Brenau will take on the NAIA #12 ranked Lee University Lady Flames in an effort to win the SSAC East-Division of the conference.
As part of the game´s festivities, Brenau will honor her 6 graduating seniors after the first game of the doubleheader. The start of the first game is scheduled for 4 PM.
Four of the six seniors on the team, including Ellen Black, Morgan Smith, Austin Smith and Brooke Bryant, will complete their playing careers as the graduating class with the most wins in the history of the softball program. The group is collectively responsible for 151 wins and is in the position to add more wins to that impressive total. This select group also had a huge part in the winning of the 2009 SSAC Regular Season Championship and was subsequently the first team to go to the NAIA National Softball Tournament Championship.
Senior Lana Lazar transferred in from NCAA Division I, Florida International University in 2010. Fellow teammate Jacqueline McWhorter transferred in during 2011 after spending 2 years at Chattahoochee Valley Community College. Both have made a significant impact on the softball program during their tenure at Brenau University.
The Athletic Department invites Brenau fans to come support the Golden Tigers softball team while paying tribute to the tremendous accomplishments of this very successful graduating class of senior athletes.
