The latest poll by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, released this month, shows the Brenau Golden Tigers tennis team as one of the three Southern States Athletic Conference teams who ranked in the NAIA top ten.

Even though the team was previously ranked high in the NAIA poll (for example, a #7 in the nation ranking which came in 2010), the 2012 distinction signifies a significant accomplishment for the team coached by Andre Ferreira.

The NAIA report notes that “Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) pushed its NAIA-leading all-time No. 1 appearances to 61 … Brenau (Ga.) is next closest with 10 No. 1 rankings, followed by Fresno Pacific (Calif.) with eight, Shorter (Ga.) with three and Northwood (Fla.) with two”. The highest rankings in the poll were as follows:

1 1 Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) (11) 12-Jan 281
2 2 Fresno Pacific (Calif.) 12-Mar 272
3 3 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) 11-Jan 263
4 4 Oklahoma Christian 5-0 254
5 5 Azusa Pacific (Calif.) 10-Jan 245
6 6 Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) 08-Mar 236
7 7 Brenau (Ga.) 06-Mar 227
8 8 Concordia (Calif.) 06-Mar 218
9 10 William Carey (Miss.) 06-May 204
