Your pennies count for more than thoughts

Fall break signals Brenau Academy´s upcoming Pennies for Patients campaign, which runs from Oct. 24 through Nov. 11. So, before you return from break crack open that mason jar, sock drawer, soap dish or otherwise unused ash tray where you throw your spare change an bring in your donations. FYI, they´ll accept other coin denominations, folding money and checks, too (make payable to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.) Donations jars that will be set out around the Gainesville campus Monday morning (the 24th). Also, you can take your trove straight to Kayla Cox or Lenna Applebee at the Academy. The Academy´s “Honored Hero” this year is Savannah Burns, who is battling APL, a rare and aggressive form of leukemia. Savannah is an alumnae of The Academy and Savannah´s sister, Frankie, is an alumnae of both the Academy and the university. Programs like Pennies For Patients help support patients and their families during treatment as well as providing funding for cancer research. This year´s goal is $500, so please bring in your spare change and ask your family and friends to pitch in their cents´-worth (or dollars´-worth)as well.
