The faculty recital scheduled for Monday, Oct. 10, 2011 has been moved to the John S. Burd Center.
Beginning at 7:30 p.m. (unchanged), Barbara Steinhaus, mezzo-soprano, and Ben Leaptrott, pianist, will present selctions by Schubert and Argento. For the Schubert pieces they are assisted by Kenn Wagner, violin, and Charae Krueger, cello. The trio by Dominic Argento is assisted by Miranda Dohrman, clarinet.
Due to the updated location, the concert will be held in the atrium of the John S. Burd Center, followed by a reception in Banks Recital Hall. Click the image for full poster.
A Tribute of Trios: Schubert and Argento music displayed in three trios for combinations of voice, piano, viiolin, cello, clarinet, and French horn. Schubert”s Auf dem Strom (Rellstab) was a tribute to Beethoven. The Piano Trio in B-flat was written at the end of Schubert”s life and also is thought of as a reflection of Beethoven”s final string quartets. The American composer Dominic Argento”s song cycle, To Be Sung Upon the Water (Wordsworth), was a tribute to Schubert. Join your colleagues and encourage your students to experience a celebration of this important musical literature. Barbara Steinhaus, soprano and Ben Leaptrott, piano.
